Summer is for Fishing

I hope you all have had a chance to get some fishing in this Spring. It is time to start thinking about our Unofficial meetings. As usual, we will meet at the Colorado Steakhouse at 6:00 for dinner. So, it is time to tell us all about your 24” smallmouth and 1 pound + bluegill all from local waters!

The date for the summer meetings are:

June 19th

July 17th

August 21st

Sept 18th

The first Official meeting will be October 16th.

Hope to see you all next Tuesday…

Tim

FISH REPORT: Lake Monroe is finally down to near normal levels,  and the creeks have cleared out a little so maybe we can get some local fishing reports coming in. I do know almost everything is biting well now and the mulberry hatch is going on if you are into that sort of thing. The first unofficial meeting of the HFF is a good time to  get unreliable fish reports.  . If you are into good food and like to talk fishing then stop by Bobby’s Colorado Steak House on the 19th and join us. Meetings are always open to anyone interested in fly fishing or fly tying.

MAIL BAG:  Fahad fishing somewhere in Texas. Nice fish! Can’t wait to hear all about it. I bet it was taken on a clouser minnow of the appropriate color.

April 2017

The next exciting meeting of the HFF will be April 18 at the Colorado Steakhouse. Dinner will be at 6:00 and the program will be at 7:00.

This meeting is the annual auction! A fun time for everyone!
So what we need is stuff to auction off, really good stuff. If you don’t have any really good stuff to give, my guess is that kinda OK stuff will do just fine. In addition to stuff, huge stuff, the best stuff…you may also bring a few extra bucks.

Please consider this a gentle reminder to start accumulating things for the annual HFF auction.

This is going to be fun, it is possible you may even be able to buy back what you donated last year!

Additional Reminders

The April 18th meeting will be the annual auction.  Once again the auction will be called by our own Kernal Kevin Montague. So, gather up some really good stuff you can live without to donate to the auction and set aside a few extra bucks to buy all the stuff you can’t live without.

The Annual HFF Picnic will be in May, either the 6th or 7th.  More on the gala event later. Thanks again to the Clarkes for hosting this event.

Indiana Fishing License are due on April 1. An annual fishing license costs $17 for Indiana residents and $35 for non-residents. Indiana residents who are at least 64 years old and born after March 31, 1943 are eligible to buy a Senior Annual ($3) or Senior Fish for Life ($17) license.  Children younger than 18 and adults born before April 1, 1943 are not required to have a license to fish. FISH REPORT: Spring is here, the weather is good, fish are on the move. Local water temperatures are running in the mid to high 50’s and we’ve had some good reports of panfish being very active. Some fish are having the spawning urge with the warming water temperatures. Fish reported being caught recently are carp, LM bass, crappies, bluegills, rainbow trout, and a couple of smallies. Early Spring fishing can be some of the best of the year, get out and fish.
