HFF Meeting July 2022

The weather seems a little more humane today. Now if a little more of the predicted rain actually shows up it may well be considered a good day. Looking forward to fewer 90 degree daze…

The July meeting of the HFF will be July 19th. As always we will meet at 6:00 with dinner at 7:00. In addition to the announcements and roundtable there will be a raffle. The July program will be a demo of tying a Mini Feather Game Changer fly. In addition to the demo of this particular method of articulated fly patterns, I assume there will be suggestions of other methods of achieving this type of fly. I will bring some examples of other articulated flies and look forward to seeing  other examples. For the demo I will be showing various ways of finishing the fly. The picture below is one type head I will be tying.

Future programs include:

An outing to Yellowwood State Forest is planned when the weather is a little better.

The October program will be most interesting, we are having Joe Smith of Project Healing Waters giving a presentation on their goals and activities. This is one not to miss.

As is always the case, we look for your suggestions for future programs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the legion on the 19th at 6:00. Bring some tall tales of summer fishing success…

Stay cool, Tim

Summer HFF Meeting June 21, 2022

The first summer meeting of the HFF will be next Tuesday the 21st.  I just looked at the 10-day weather forecast and it is calling for 99 degrees! A very good reason to stop by the Legion for the air conditioning and a cold beer. And if that wasn’t enough, Mike Donovan will be giving a fly tying demonstration. Mike’s demos are always fun to watch with lots of good information.

There are a number of items on the discussion/demonstration menu for the summer.  As always, we are looking for program suggestions…what would you like to see or hear about? There is strong interest in reading the various types of water in rivers and lakes. If possible we would like to actually get on some water for this discussion. We are also planning an outing at Yellowwood Lake, the date to be announced. Add to this there has been discussion about taking part in a Lake Monroe cleanup sometime this year.

Speaking of reading the water. This link is about the flooding in Yellowstone. I would read this water as really upset about something…

There will be the usual round-table discussion to start the meeting. This is a good chance to fill us in on your summer(mostly true) fishing success. As always there will be a raffle with neat stuff you really need.

Stay cool, see you at the meeting, Tim
