July 2024 HFF Meeting

The next meeting of the Hoosier Fly Fishers will be this coming Tuesday July 16th. Once again we will be meeting at the American Legion Hall in Bloomington. Dinner at 6:00 and the program at 7:00. Hope you are all able to join us and share some wonderfully true tales about your summer fishing adventures.

The program this month will feature Justin Swafford tying sohers for only $17.99. Looking forward to watching Justin tie some flies.

I always look forward to these demos because as a fly tier myself, I always look forward to seeing others deal with the techniques and materials. It has been said that there are no new fly patterns. That may or may not be 100% true but there are sure a lot of new materials and techniques to learn about and apply to our craft. And, I might add, catch a few more fish.

Looking forward to seeing you all on July 16th. Stay cool and dry,

Tim

The program this month will be a presentation by Marty James. Marty will  be discussing all things about fly fishing for carp. He will be discussing the necessary rods and flies for both stream and lake fishing.  Marty is also a certified fly casting instructor. He may have suggestions on how to get the flies to the place they can do their job. There may well be a word or two about Muskies on a fly rod. Bring questions, this is going to be fun.

There will also be a tying demo. Fly to be tied is to be determined. I am open to suggestions as always. For now I am considering flies for small streams.

Again, the HFF will be at the Legion with Dinner at 6:00 and the Program at 7:00.

See you all there,

Tim
