Official Meetings Begin in October

October 17th will be the first meeting of the year for the Hoosier Flyfishers. We will be meeting on the third Tuesday of every month until June of 2018. The exception being the Christmas party, date to be announced. We will continue to meet at the Colorado Steakhouse, dinner will be at 6:00 and the program will begin at 7:00. Meetings are open to all members and anyone with an interest in Fly Fishing or Fly Tying. We always welcome new faces.

The program this month will be Jeanne and Charlie Shaw sharing highlights from their Montana adventure this summer. Word has it that they traveled with a GOPRO Hero, so it should be a “moving” experience.

Mike Donovan will be demonstrating tying some of his favorite fall streamers. And, bring a few extra bucks for the raffle.

Stay tuned for more details of upcoming programs. As always we welcome your suggestions for upcoming programs. Need I mention that dues are due? Annual Membership dues are always due in October and it is a great time to join the club to enjoy all the great fly tying demos and special Official Programs that are planned for the Official Meetings.

Hope to see you all Tuesday the 17th at the Colorado Steakhouse
At 6:00 for dinner and the excitement a new year of wonder filled

The International Fly Tying Symposium will be moving to Lancaster, PA in November 2017. The 2017 Event is scheduled for Nov. 11-12 in the ballroom of the Marriott Hotel, Lancaster, PA. The move was made necessary by the closing of the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ. The IFTS is billed as the largest fly tying show of it’s type in the world. You can find more information on their website about schedules, a list of vendors, fly tiers, and classes that are on the schedule.

August Unofficial Meeting

The next official unofficial meeting of the HFF will be August 18th at the Colorado Steakhouse. We get started at 6:00.

I do hope at least some of you have had better luck (perhaps just more skill) than I have had fishing this summer. The wettest June ever followed by the wettest July ever. I have talked with several folks who wanted to fish the flats at Monroe only to be deterred by the fact that recently they were under 11.5 feet of water. However, things are looking up, the flats were only under 9.6 feet of water this morning.

Hope to see you all on the 18th.
