HFF Meeting Scheduled For October

I trust you are all enjoying the weather. Personally, I could stand another 6 weeks of this…well maybe a bit of rain here and there. We are going to try one more wet wading day on Sunday. After that, I am thinking it is time to chase some Wipers.

So, we have the October meeting of the HFF coming up on the 20th. It is looking like a rather busy meeting. As usual, we will start with dinner. There will be announcements concerning new and old news.  Among the new items, we need to nominate officers for the coming year. We will vote on the slate at the December meeting. And, BTW, dues are now due.

We will then have a round table discussion to catch us all up on everyone’s summer adventures.  I am anxious to hear how you all were able to spend some time in something resembling an exciting adventure. Myself, I was finally  able to understand what the dogs and cats find so Intriguing while staring blankly out the window.

The big hit of the evening will be Mike D. tying a Jelly Bean Nymph. Chances are good that this will look so good you may be tempted to take a bite. I have been asked to tell you this Jelly Bean is not for human consumption.

The November meeting will be the auction. Kernal Kevin has been resting his voice for a bit so he should be in good form. We ask you to bring some fishing and outdoor equipment so Kevin has something to work with. More information on the auction coming soon.

We will  again meet at the American Legion Post # 18 at 1800 W. 3rd. ST Bloomington. Dinner at 6:00 and the program at 7:00. We will be meeting in the big dining room so there will be room for social distancing. The Legion is now able to serve at 75% capacity.

Please follow the mask requirements of the county and the American Legion.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 20th..

Stay well,

Tim

HFF Meeting March 17, 2020 Postponed

After a good deal of thought and deliberation, the Hoosier Fly Fishers executive committee has come to the conclusion that given the current state of affairs with the Corona Virus we will postpone the March 17th meeting until further notice.  This was not an easy decision; we were all looking forward to Joe Smith’s presentation on Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. It is our hope that we can reschedule this presentation later in the year. I will keep you informed as to how this change will affect the rest of the year.

Our plan for the rest of the year for the HFF programs is to proceed as planned, with the auction in April and then the picnic sometime in May.  We are working on having Joe Smith present his Program, Healing Waters Fly Fishing, in an early fall meeting.  I know we are all looking forward to this presentation.

About the auction; once again we are indeed fortunate to have our own Kevin “The Voice” as our auctioneer.  Remember, the auction is for fishing and outdoor recreation related items. So…round up all the really good stuff you don’t need and give Kevin something to work his magic with.

Sometime soon JL Waters will be sponsoring Fly Tying Lessons. Larry Barber will fill us in on the lessons at a later date.

Stay tuned for any changes/update in the upcoming programs.

Stay safe and well,

Tim
